  1. I have been enjoying these posts listing articles of interest. There's always something I would otherwise have missed.

  2. I do not read these articles with delight. Ralph was been synonymous with quality, heritage and tradition. American exceptionalism. He has had a great run but now his company may be going in the direction of LLBean, Bills Khaki , Brooks Brothers and others- down.

  6. Sad to hear about Ralph Lauren's store on 5th. Designer brands inevitably try to be all things to all people in effort to generate as much revenue as possible, and then face the same fate as Mr. Lauren. Have you ever peered at the label to see if it's Ralph Lauren, or Polo, or RL, or Lauren or Purple Label, or etc. IMHO one of the nice things about "on demand" online shopping is that you can zero in on products/merchandise that's exactly what you want and not feel a shopping trip was a waste.

  7. Ralph's decline began when someone there decided to attempt to appeal to that "younger, hipper, urban" crowd. This usually happens right on schedule when a company goes "cash-grab." Hence the oversized logos, ridiculous blingy "crests" actually parodying classic school blazers, outlandish freaky dresses for the couture types (you would wear this WHERE?) and similar departures from the quality, fit and style of traditional clothing. Unfortunately, one reaps what one sows. Hopefully, it's not too late for a return to pleasing the RL core market instead of trying to be all things (or none) to all people!
