To Make is To Live

 Decoys Carved by Grandfather
A friend with an appreciation of old books shared these.  As hoped, practical advice, historical curiosities, and philosophical wanderings commingled in the pages.

"Fireplaces... are invaluable in the fall and spring, before and after it is necessary to heat the entire house."

  1. I loved this! While everything is internet these days, and there is nothing wrong with that at all, but there is still something to be said for books and a handmade life so to speak. My husband is the artist and the creative one in our house, and he makes a very good living from working with his his hands. His brain isn't too shabby either. But he's not afraid to get dirty and devote himself to his craft. I help, but I'm just and assistant. He always said his grandfather, whom he takes after, had all of these handyman books about the house and learned the DIY trade from them. Beautiful cabinet and great post.
