An Octogenarian's Headbands

Some have found that, while the style may remain constant, the hues they reach for change as they get older.

  1. What a beautiful assortment of colors! I am a headband wearer and have a small collection of plaids that go back decades - I believe they may have been from J.Crew. These days, however, I find that tortoise and black velvet suit my everyday style best.

  2. Invaluable for flyaways or for taming a hairstyle that is growing out. Muffy, at one point you posted a review of the lifecycle of clothing - from wearing in public to wearing at home to wearing in the garden. Would you be able to post that again please? It was such a good reminder that not everything has to be replaced or thrown out (especially in these days of KonMari purging).

  3. Ah, there's nothing better than a good, sturdy headband! I tend toward tortoise myself, but I'm on the hunt for some good plaid or black velvet ones, if anyone has any suggestions!

    1. Don't know if they're still around, but Chesapeake Rose made some lovely ones.

    2. Kristin, I have a resource for quality, beautiful headbands, if you're willing to pay the price. I was fortunate to receive a tortoise braided one as a gift. My velvet headband is very old so I keep my eye open for replacement options and this is the only place I saw that has them, www.alexandredeparisnyc.com

  4. Muffy, a long time back, you had a post titled: "Dressing the Elder Prep." I would really enjoy your advice on that subject again.

  7. Still love hot pink. Still wear it. Also still have some of the same clothes that an early post showed (from the 1970s). Yea. And when they wear out, I buy replacements as exact as possible.
