We were in New York all this week too. We sure didn't need the heavy jackets we brought, that's for sure. It was beautiful.

I was delighted to see you had your dog
in Turnbull & Asser.
NYC is far dog friendly than most cities.
Does your golden retr stay home
when you travel?
I like your layers, blouse, sweater and vest... very striking.

Love Turnball & Asser! my first exposure to there shirts was at Neiman Marcus in Washington, DC years ago!
A real British classic! I believe the Prince of Wales wears them religiously!

Muffy - I have to say I would be intimidated just to walk in the door of Turnbull & Asser, let alone bring in a dog! Well done and very droll! Bertram Wilberforce "Bertie" Wooster would have been proud.

Great entry. I have to say that because I like your blog, I looked at some other blogs that claim to be preppy during this break. WT*? Half the stuff they highlight is the opposite of preppy. Are these blogs for, by, and about people who are clueless, or people who just want to fight? I like the occasional flourish as much as the next person, but it seems like if you are missing the mark more than 20% of the time, you have a HUGE problem. I don't know if you can comment on this, but I just wanted to say it. Thanks for listening!!

I think my biggest issue with most "prep" blogs is that they are unreadable. The pink and green is taken to such an extreme that you can hardly keep from going blind while trying to read the posts.

Pink and green are great as accents, but they are not suitable for the primary colors used on a blog.

I would also think that there are quite a few suburbanite teenagers who try to create preppy blogs. Usually this is a very short lived project and consists of brands and activities, that are, as you say, not prep. I wouldn't be concerned about such blogs taking over and altering the fundamentals of prep fashion and common sense.

A great article, takes me straight back to the time I spent in New York City over the summer, had a wonderful time in J Press.
Great that you visited Turnbull & Asser, I didn't even realise they had a NYC shop. I have to say it looks a lot more slick than their Jermyn St shop here in London.
I posted up a photo I had of the facade for you:
